Together with the announcement of the next generation of their Chrome Soft golf ball Callaway has launched another golf ball with the focus on soft feel.
The Superhot 55 is a three-pieced surlyn covered ball that Callaway says offers players long and straight ball flight with the advantage of the soft feel from the balls low compression.
As the name suggests, the Superhot 55, has a 55 compression on the PGA compression scale that Callaway uses to measure their golf balls.
55 is the compression of the whole golf ball with the high velocity core of the golf ball being extremely soft with a compression of just 15. This core combines with a mantle layer and the surlyn cover, which is the same cover Callaway use in their Supersoft balls, to create a very low spinning ball which keeps the ball straighter with less hook or slice.
Despite the soft mantle layer and core Callaway says there is no loss of ball speed and distance is maxmised thanks to Callaway's long standing hex aerodynamics that promote low drag and optimal lift to keep the ball in the air for a longer time.
