Apart from colours and materials there has not been much technical innovation in gloves lately, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the Zoom series of gloves arrive.

Zoom Weather Golf Glove

The hotbed of golf that is Austria has come up with a 'one size fits all' golf glove that uses a combination of modern materials across three types of glove.

The range consists of the premium cabretta leather Zoom Tour glove, followed by the mid-market, tacky to touch suede Zoom Grip and the synthetic Zoom Weather, which is what I have been testing here.

All three share the same Flexx-Fit design principle that uses coloured Lycra across the back of the glove, the fingers and across the palm.

Using Lycra in itself is not unique, but the Zoom has more than most and it is the flexibility created by the Lycra in the slit across the palm that makes this glove stand out.

No matter how big your mitts are, this expandable section enables the glove to adjust to fit any size of hand. Playing in my friendly four ball of medium, medium-large and large handed mates, we all tried it on and it fitted all of us like, well, a glove.

Zoom claim that the 'compression technology' ensures that their gloves fit like a second skin and that is a pretty good description, as whoever was wearing it did not get any bunching up of spare material regardless of hand size.

Zoom Weather Golf Glove

The non-Lycra parts of the Zoom Weather glove uses a honeycomb structure to provide very good grip in wet and cold conditions, although the Lycra does not really help with heat retention.

That would make it pretty good in warmer conditions and a lot of people use all weather gloves in humid conditions when their palms get sweaty.

The Lycra is cleverly positioned around the glove to create the fit and in the black and white version it does look like something a Stormtrooper would wear if he nipped off early from blowing up planets for a quick nine holes.

However you can align with the bright side by choosing from a wide range of colours across all three models.

Zoom Weather Golf Glove

I am really impressed with the Zoom Weather and it is good to see innovation in this category with the one size design. Combined with a competitive price it means that whatever your hand size or conditions, the Zoom golf gloves should be a perfect fit for your game.
