The Ping Anser Forged wedge is designed to match in with the Ping Anser Forged irons but we think this is a great stand alone wedge in it's own right. Compared to the Ping Tour S wedge the Anser Forged is much more blade like and as a result the feel is a lot better with a nice solid contact.

I was expecting the tungsten weight in the sole to be noticeable but the longer hosel makes this feel a very balanced club through impact. The True Temper DG Spinner shaft is very good and compliments the head very well.

Overall this is a compact head wedge for better players and at least if you are a low handicap Ping die-hard then you can benefit have a more blade like wedge in the bag.

However, there is a stone in the bunker of this product and that is the price. The RRP is over 50% more than the leading wedges from Titleist, Cleveland and Mizuno and whilst only the latter is forged, all of them have at least as good performance as the Ping Anser Forged.

We know Ping are positioning the Anser range as a premium brand in their range, but if they are serious about getting into the bags of better players then this could be an issue.

I've been playing the Anser wedge for 3 years now & it's fantastic. I was a Cleveland wedge player for years but in the Anser I have found that for every shot from 1 yard to 85 yards, low & running, low & checking up or high & soft, this wedge is The Answer! JJY
