The TomTom Golfer 2 is, as the name suggests, the GPS giant's second foray into the golf wearable technology market.
We reviewed the original TomTom Golfer, which we thought was a stylish well designed watch.
With the Golfer 2, TomTom has followed the recent trend of adding functionality to let you analyse your performance after the round.
Clive Millington, COO of TomTom explains why:
We know that often the best improvements simply come from knowing where you went wrong. This is why we have designed such detailed post-game analysis for the TomTom Golfer 2 to show you where to improve, but also to know what you’re capable of.
The Golfer 2 delivers this capability with automatic shot detection tracking when and where you hit the ball and then syncing this wirelessly to the TomTom MySports app on your smartphone.
The software in the app gives insights into shot patterns and greens in regulations and you can analyse shots hole by hole to identify your strengths and improve your weaknesses. It also has an ultimate round feature that pulls together the best holes from a regularly played course to demonstrate what a best potential round could look like.
During play a large, high resolution screen ensures information can be seen at a glance with precise yardages to the front, centre and back of the green, lay up distances and a hazard view that lets golfers see how far it is to any danger in front of them.
A "Greenview" gives a graphical representation of your target and any hazards that surround it and the device will also tell you the distance you have covered and the time taken to play your round.
The Golfer 2 is fully waterproof so you can play in any weather and with a slim and smart appearance the lightweight GPS watch will not encumber your swing in any way and comes with a choice of large or small straps for a perfect fit.
