Who? 37-year-old American, Billy Horschel.
What? The 2024 BMW PGA Championship, his second win in this event.
Where? The West Course, Wentworth, Surrey, England.
How? The World Number 24, Billy Horschel first moved into contention at Wentworth on Moving Day with a career-best seven straight birdies. The American, who nearly holed out his third shot at the par-five last, then ended Sunday with a birdie-birdie finish to climb alongside the leading pair at 20 under before a trio including himself, Thirston Lawrence and Rory McIlroy returned to the 18th hole for a play-off.
Lawrence blinked first after a wayward tee-shot, then finding fairway bunker and water to be the first to be eliminated as McIlroy and Horschel rolled in birdies to force a second extra hole. After McIlroy's eagle effort narrowly slid by the hole, it was left to Horschel to roll in a stunning eagle putt to claim victory for the second time in four years.
