TaylorMade has launched its latest range of Tour Performance golf balls with the new TP5 and TP5x which they say represents the most complete Tour ball.

Both versions of the ball are designed to perform with every club in the bag thanks to the differing make up of the 5 layers that form the ball.
Both balls feature a Tri-Fast core that boasts an overall compression of 83 in the TP5 and a slightly higher 90 compression in the TP5x.
This breaks down to a flexible inner core, with a 16 and 25 compression in the TP5 and TP5x respectively, and is designed to be flexible and fast.

Over that is another layer that has a medium flexibility and adds to ball speed (with compression numbers of 24 and 35) and that is covered by the third layer of the Tri-Fast core that is rigid (with compression numbers of 44 and 55) and is the fastest of the three layers.
The Tri-Fast core is covered in both ball by a Dual-Spin Cover that provides multi-layer spin performance thanks to a rigid TP inner underneath a soft cast urethane cover which features a 322 seamless dimple pattern.

The TP5 is designed to give a softer feel with long distance on all shots whereas the slightly harder TP5x uses ultra-thin cover construction for high launch and low spin for even greater distance.
