Callaway has announced an update to its popular Mack Daddy 4 Wedge, with the release of the Tactical line aiming to emphasise precision and aggression in the short game department.
The success of the Mack Daddy 4 wedge is now being combined with a stealthy look to provide the ultimate wedge package, with a distinct military green ‘raw’ PVD finish, Black PVD face and a new black finish for Callaway’s distinctive medallions on the back of the club.

Completing the new look is the limited edition Black True Temper Tour Issue 115 shaft with tactical labels, and Tactical Lamkin UTX Grips with green end caps.

Callaway's wedge expert Roger Cleveland commented:
Wedge design brings together many variables and we have carefully considered every element in the design in MD4 Tactical. Through a detailed and exhaustive process of working on look, shape, performance and feel we have created our most accomplished and distinct wedge ever.
The Tactical wedges contain all of the main features and innovations of the Mack Daddy 4 Wedge released at the start of 2018.
Callaway’s Groove-in-Groove technology, featuring raised micro grooves on the face between the main grooves, creates 84 contact points on the face to provide more shot-stopping spin. The face also features the 'Nip It' groove at the bottom of the face near the leading edge to improve spin and control on short shots or strikes that are a little on the thin side.
The Tactical wedges enjoy tour-validation through the input of Roger Cleveland, resulting in a wedge which offers a more compact shape, straighter leading edge, tighter leading-edge radius and slightly more offset than the previous version.

Like the Standard Mack Daddy 4, the Tactical wedges are available in two different grind options for a versatile fit which can improve both feel and performance.
The S Grind is suitable for all-round performance and features a medium width sole with 10° of bounce and moderate trailing edge and heel relief, still allowing for consistent striking if the face is opened up.

The X Grind contains 12° of loft and includes added toe and heel relief, along with a straight leading edge, to suit those players with steeper angles of attack and softer course conditions.
Available in 16 loft/bounce combinations the Mack Daddy Tactical will be in stores from September 2018 and you can read our review of the Callaway Mack Daddy 4 wedge here.
