When we first tested Callaway's Mack Daddy 5 Jaws wedges in 2019, we were extremely impressed with its overall look and feel, along with the fantastic spin rates offered to give you a little bit of extra bite on the greens.
The Jaws line has been updated this summer with a new Full Toe wedge which has already been seen in the bags of a number of Callaway players in the last couple of months...
Callaway says the Jaws Full Toe is designed to give golfers control on all types of wedge shots, from chips to pitches, flops and bunker shots, and even full shots into the green.
This is done by combining four distinct technologies to produce what the brand are rather boldly calling an 'absolute spin machine'. First is the Jaws grooves, which are among the highest-spinning in golf.
These are now extended right across the surface of the face to give you spin no matter where you strike it on the face.
Offset groove-in-groove technology increases surface roughness on the clubface, which combines with a raw face for an extra-rough surface.
The Full Toe shape not only provides more face area for you to hit but also features an enhanced toe peak, which works alongside a special C-Grind which is ideally suited to shorter shots around the green, particularly bunker shots and higher flops.
The wedge is still capable of performing on mid and full wedge shots too, as it promotes better turf interaction through the ball so you can have more confidence in the scoring zone.
The toe pad on the wedge pushes the CG higher in the head, which produces a lower and more controlled trajectory. The new Variable Weight Port system also moves the CG away from the hosel and more towards the centre of the face, helping to improve feel.
Complete with a Lamkin UTX grip, the wedge is available with ether Dynamic Gold Spinner shaft in steel or a Project X Catalyst shaft in graphite.
Priced at £159, it is available in two different finishes - Raw Face Chrome and Raw Black - and will be at retail from 9th September.
