Following the success of Callaway's Epic Driver and Epic Fairway Woods the family is completed by the Epic hybrids.
The Epic is the first hybrid to incorporate a crown using Callaway's proprietary triaxial carbon composite material found in the GBB Driver and Fairways. This is the thinnest and lightest composite material Callaway has ever produced and the substantial weight savings it offers have been redistributed to strategic locations within the head to increase MOI and lower the CG to produce a powerful, forgivig, accurate and easy to launch club.
The clubhead frame, which is precision milled and robotically laser welded, provides a robust structure for this discretionary weight to be redistributed around the perimeter of the clubhead. Distance is further boosted by a clubface that benefits from Callaway's 455 Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup Technology.
The thin and flexible rim around the side of the face flexes and releases more uniformly and efficiently at impact to increase ball speed across the face, especially towards the bottom, where most mis-hits occur.
As in the new Epic Irons the Epic Hybrids have a Metal-Injected Moulding tungsten version of their Internal Standing Wave. The precise shape and weight of this tungsten piece (1.8 x heavier than steel) allowed the design team to achieve the specific mass property goals necessary for the desired high forgiveness and easy launch.
