The Odyssey Backstryke putter takes some of Callaway's most popular head shapes and places the shaft at the back of the head rather than the front.

This reminds us of a Slotline putter from the 1980's that had an onset hosel so that the head was out in front of the shaft. Odyssey have done something similar with the Backstryke and it gets the face of the putter out in front of the shaft at address and throught the stroke.

We like this approach as you get a clear view of the ball and the leading edge of the club which makes it very easy to line the club up. As your hands are behind the ball you also get through it a lot better as you hit it earlier in the stroke than you normally would with an offset putter.

The Backstryke also has the advantage that each model is centre shafted which really helps to give you a very solid feel, as well as getting your eyes over the ball. The models they have chosen from the DART and 2-Ball ranges are renowned for their site lines and the Backstryke hosel design really brings these features to the fore.

The White Ice insert in the Backstryke putter is one of the best Odyssey inserts in our opinion as it is a little firmer than the standard White Hot, whilst still giving a good level of feel.

It may look a little different, but we would urge you to give it a go, especially if you need help lining up, as this is an excellent alternative design to standard putters.

Had this putter a few years its now 2018. Had two other putters but expensive ones and have gone back to my Backstryke because of its accuracy, feel, reliability and knowing I am going to hole nearly anything. I am 27 handicapper and if the rest of my game was as good I would be a low handicap, but feel so confident with the Backstryke.

A great putter. Line up the ball off your left heel. Get over the ball. Lock the left elbow to your rib cage. Rock the shoulders to strike the ball. Your make percentage will go up noticeably.

I first tried out this great putter at Golf Live last year. My wife has bought it for me as a Christmas present, although I am now using it.

The grip, feel, weight and the ability to line up your putt is superb. The very first 4 holes using it were par, birdie, par, par etc and I play off 20!!! Even the sound of the ball off the head is like sweet music.

My playing partner was so impressed with my new putter he bought the same Backstryke and the following week scored a low round like me, all because of this great putter. Fantastic.
