Cobra become the latest brand to set out their stall for 2024 with the brand new Darkspeed range, and their Darkspeed irons are said to be inspired by metalwood designs to provide maximum distance.

Cobra Darkspeed Irons

The irons feature a hollow body construction, filled with feel enhancing foam, and also include updated versions of Cobra's Pwr-Bridge and Pwrshell technologies to produce the brand's longest and best feeling game improvement iron yet.

Cobra Darkspeed Irons

Cobra have looked at how they design their own woods with the new Darkspeed irons, coming up with a hollow body construction which is thinner and more responsive, producing up to 25% more face flection to promote faster ball speeds and longer distance.

This supports the Pwr-Bridge weight which we first saw in last year's Aerojet range, whilst also improving the sound and feel by dampening vibrations.

The irons feature a progressive Tecflo construction which sees a transition from a full hollow design with Pwr-Bridge and Pwrshell in the longer 4-7 irons, to a full hollow body with no face insert in 8-PW, and then a half hollow design in the gap wedge and sand wedge.

Inside the head, the Pwr-Bridge weight is suspended on just one small post, meaning it is almost floating within the clubhead. This design moves the CG lower in the head for optimal launch, while encouraging more ball speed.

The Darkspeed irons feature a thinner (1.6mm) and 21% larger Pwrshell HOT face, which has a new pattern designed using AI for a faster and more efficient clubface. The face has a variable thickness pattern for a larger sweet spot and more speed on both centre and off-centre strikes.

Cobra Darkspeed Irons

Cobra have offered their main-range irons in both Variable and One Length options for a number of years now, and this continues again with the Darkspeed line, giving golfers the chance to switch between a traditional or One Length setup.

Cobra Darkspeed Irons

Available at retail from 19th January, the Darkspeed irons are available in either 4-PW or 5-GW at an RRP of £849 for steel shafts, or graphite shafts at an RRP of £949.

The Darkspeed One Length irons are available in custom only from 5-GW at £849 for steel and £949 for graphite shafts.
