The Ping iWedge unique 'Sand Cup' sole really makes this a very easy club to hit.

Based on the cult classic Eye 2 wedge that many Tour players still use, the updated iWedge has the same sole design and centre of gravity as the original, but thankfully the design of the rest of the head is a bit more contemporary.

Out of the sand the 56 degree version felt like cheating compared to other wedges and there is enough weight in the sole to make extricating yourself from heavy rough a doddle. Very impressive performance.

Even though the spec says the bounces are quite high, the design of the sole means that the leading edge lies flat to the ground with just a minor forward movement of the hands. This makes it very good from tight lies as well.

The feel from the face is great, although maybe not as crisp as a soft forged blade wedge. However this is more than balanced out by the performance of the club. If you struggle with your bunker shots then try out an Ping iWedge.
