Designed for "accomplished golfers" or players looking to move to another level, the Wilson Staff FG Tour M3 fairway wood features Wilson's Right Light technology and Multi Fit System.
“Through personalised custom-fit options, the FG Tour M3 range provides a wider spectrum of golfers with Tour-feel clubs that can take their game onto the next level,” said Global Director of Wilson Golf's R&D, Michael Vrska.
With input from Wilson Staff's tour professionals, including Paul Lawrie and Padraig Harrington, Vrska and his R&D team worked hard to produce an adjustable fairway wood ideal for "feel" players.
Vrska explains: “We believe strongly in adjustability, especially for what we identify as a ‘Feel’ player, so that trajectory can be optimised and ball speed can be maximised."
The FG Tour M3 fairway wood is available in three initial lofts - 13.5, 15 or 17 degrees - but can be adjusted to six different loft settings. The Wilson Multi-Fit System features an adjustable hosel (shown above), that is removed from the clubhead using a simple wrench provided with the club. Once removed, a player can change the loft from standard by -1 degree to +2 degrees in half degree increments.
Beyond the adjustability of the loft, Wilson have placed a lot of emphasis on their Right Light technology. Simply put, they believe that it is crucial to find the correct weight distribution between all three parts of a club: the head, shaft and grip.
By varying the thickness behind the face and beneath the crown, Wilson were able to redistribute weight within the head of the M3 fairway wood to optimize ball speeds and the club's centre of gravity. Furthermore, they have added space for three different performance-enhancing sole weights.
The three weights of 3, 7 or 11 grams are adjusted on the sole of the M3 fairway wood using the wrench to further optimize the weight of the club and provide the best balance and feel for a player's swing.
