How? McIlroy became the first player ever to win the FedEx Cup three times after overcoming Scottie Scheffler on the final day to finish one stroke clear. Despite starting the week six strokes behind Scheffler, widely tipped to be crowned PGA Tour Player of the Year, and making a triple bogey on his opening hole on Thursday, McIlroy managed to rally back with a Saturday 63 pushing him into contention, before closing with a round of 66 to take the title.
