Taylormade is taking a fresh look at the better player iron category with the release of the PSi and PSi Tour irons that address the familiar trade off between sound and feel or distance which many players face when choosing an iron.
With the PSi irons,TaylorMade says it has delivered a combination of form and function, providing a balance between looks and feel with increased ball speed and distance.

To do this TaylorMade's engineers have incorporated into the PSi irons what they're calling a Dynamic Feel System (DFS). The DFS comprises a Hybrar blend compression damper and a multi-material badge in the cavity of the iron that work together to reduce vibration across the face without impacting on ball speed.
Feel is also managed across the irons with redesigned head geometries that include tungsten weighting in the longer irons (3-5), and forged short irons (8-PW), producing a consistency to sound and feel that flows through the set.

This sense of progression is mirrored in a progressive spec package to ensure each iron delivers an optimal performance. Blade length, top-line thickness and offset increase as you move from the wedges down to the long irons to give a consistent and confidence inspiring look at address.
To boost performance and speed the PSi irons have a new take on the Speed Pocket with a cut-thru slot leading directly into the cavity undercut. This new style Speed Pocket results in faster ball speeds for strikes low on the face creating greater consistency across the whole hitting area.

The PSi irons also uses the face slot technology that TaylorMade unveiled in its RSi series of irons. These slots, located in the heel and toe of the club, help to maintain ball speed on shots struck off-centre.

Ball speed is maximised by the use of an ultra-thin face that is less than 2mm thick to ensure that the compact better players shape still delivers on distance through the set. A 360 degree undercut expands the unsupported face area and lowers the centre of gravity (CG) to provide an optimal combination of ball speed, spin and launch angle, allowing better players to generate the powerful trajectory they prefer from the irons.

The PSi irons are also available in a Tour version which incorporates input from TaylorMade staff players. These irons feature more compact head sizes that are forged from 1025 Carbon steel with thinner top lines and less offset and narrower soles to facilitate the shaping and workability demanded by the best ball strikers. The PSi Tour incorporate the face slots and Speed pocket with a progressive CG position that allows for a higher trajectory in the longer irons.
