SkyCaddie, which is best known for its range of golf GPS devices including launch monitors and handheld models, has announced that it is branching into the world of wearable technology with the introduction of the new LX5 GPS Smart Watch.
Available at the end of this month, the watch includes the best features and technologies from SkyCaddie's acclaimed SX400 and SX500 devices thanks to a large, and crystal-clear HD touchscreen which is among the best on the market.
James Holmes, SkyCaddie General Manager for UK & Europe, commented:
The LX5 is SkyCaddie's most powerful wearable GPS rangefinder yet. It is packed with stroke-saving technology and includes most of the dynamic features which golfers rave about in our award-winning SX500 and SX400 handhelds.
The LX5 gives you golf's most accurate and up-to-date golf course information on your wrist. It's also lightweight and looks great, making it a versatile watch for everyday use both on and off the course.
The LX5's large HD screen means that you can zoom and pan across the image of each hole to ensure that you are completely familiar with the details and distances on your particular hole, allowing you to plan your strategy with certainty.
It features SkyCaddie's HoleVue technology which can give specific yardages to any chosen point on the hole, and swiping across the screen reveals distances to hazards, layups and gives carry distances so that you can pick your line with confidence.
It's also particularly useful if you happen to stray offline because you can still see the layout of the hole, including all relevant distances and hazards, even if you can't see them from where you're standing. If you use a laser rangefinder you'll know that this is one of its shortcomings.
The LX5 includes IntelliGreen Pro which provides the exact shape of the green from whatever angle you are approaching, allowing you to see all major contours along with front, carry and back distances.
The LX5 Watch is preloaded with 35,000 SkyCaddie course maps, which are ground-verified by course mappers, meaning that you can be confident in the accuracy of yardages displayed whilst never having to worry about a new course being unavailable when you arrive.
The rechargeable Li-Polymer battery lasts up to two rounds, and over three days in time mode. It also allows you to score as you play and track statistics including total score, fairways hit, greens in regulation and more.
The SkyCaddie LX5 GPS Smart Watch is available for £299.95, and that includes a three-year premium Worldwide Membership.
