Designers looking to save weight is a familiar story in golf equipment.

Trimming weight from a driver's crown allows you to place it elsewhere and make the club more forgiving. Puma Golf is applying this concept to its Spring/Summer 2017 collection that showcases its lightest, most cutting-edge offerings to date for both men and women.

The range is centred around an innovative material called Ultralite that is up to 30% lighter than previous generations of Puma apparel, ensuring a new level of comfort on the course.

Ultralite is extremely breathable, offers excellent moisture management and is minimally constructed for a cleaner look and it has been used across both men's and women's ranges in polos, bottoms and outerwear.

Kristin Hinze, Head of Apparel at Puma Golf, explains the thinking behind the new collection:

Athleisure continues to be pervasive across both fashion and performance brands, but with Puma’s SportLifestyle heritage, it is truly authentic to our DNA. Thus, we are uniquely positioned to deliver on-trend, high performing, stylish clothing to the golf world.

Our Spring Summer 17 collection takes the best of what is happening in fashion and streetwear and fuses it with technical elements that enhance on-course performance, ensuring a look that works from the first tee to the office and everywhere in between.

One clear break from the past can be seen in a revamped men's bottoms collection, designed to be golf trousers that don't look like traditional golf trousers. The new range offer excellent moisture management, a re-balanced pattern, curved waistband for comfort and a mechanical stretch for maximum range of motion.

Puma fans will notice a maturation of the brand in terms of both style and colour palette. Whilst continuing to focus primarily on game enjoyment, the colours and graphics are evolving to be more inclusive of a wide array of golf style preferences, mirroring the evolution of its star players.

Hinze explains:

As Rickie’s and Lexi’s careers evolve, and with the addition of Bryson DeChambeau as one of our key style icons going forward, we have achieved much more of balance in our colour and designs than what has previously been our hallmark bright and bold looks.

The 2017 collection also includes layering and stormwear options that are ultralight and breathable while still offering protection from the toughest conditions.
