Among their staff is American Brandt Snedeker, who is a two-time winner of the AT&T Pro-Am at Pebble Beach, as well as finishing in the Top 10 the last time it held the US Open in 2010. Snedeker fired a second-round 60 last week at the Canadian Open and so could be one to watch.

Spieth's Seaside Scripting

3 time major winner and Under Armour ambassador Jordan Spieth will be back among the favourites when he tees it up at Pebble Beach this week, having recovered from a poor run of form over the last 12 months.

The American will be sporting a full wardrobe of Under Armour gear, including his Spieth 3 shoes, in a blue theme which reflects Pebble Beach's location as one of the most picturesque seaside courses in the world.

What They're Using

Rory's Successful Wedge Switch

At around 7,000 yards Pebble Beach is one of the shortest courses that the players will visit this season. As a result, Rory McIlroy surmised that he would have plenty of approaches to the green at around 100-150 yards, and so decided to place more emphasis on this area of the bag.

Rory usually carries three wedges in his set up but made the decision to add another, closing the gap between each wedge to 4 degrees (48,52,56,60) for more precision. He opted for the Milled Grind model in the 48 degree pitching wedge, and the Hi-Toe model for the remaining three.

In order to get used to the new setup he first put them in play at the RBC Canadian Open, where he blitzed the field by 7 strokes. Perfect Pebble preparation?

Double Delight For Mickelson

Never one to shy away from a bold decision when it comes to his equipment, Phil Mickelson is looking to roll back the years in his quest for the career Grand Slam. In 2006, Lefty won both the BellSouth Classic and Masters Tournament in successive weeks with two different drivers in the bag, one for draws and one for fades.

Callaway Epic Flash Driver

For Pebble Beach, he is adopting the same philosophy again. This time, he'll have one driver for hitting controllable cuts, or 'fairway finders', and another for maximum distance, or 'bombs' as he calls them. Both drivers will be Callaway Epic Flash models, both set at 8.5 degrees, but with different shaft lengths to create the two different ball flights. Whether it works remains to be seen, but it's clear that Phil has not yet given up on finally winning that US Open title.

Titleist Irons In Tour Validation Stage

Jimmy Walker will be one of the first golfers to get his hands on the new 2019 iron range from Titleist, opting to put the 620 MB model in his bag heading to Pebble Beach. It is not known whether he will actually tee it up with the clubs come Thursday, but having used them in practice this week it's a good indication that he must have been impressed.

Titleist insist on a Tour Validation stage with nearly all of their products to ensure that they are suitable for the needs of even the best golfers in the world, and live up to their very exacting standards. Find out more about all three of the new irons by reading our news article here.
