4.75 stars out of 5 (Based on 4 reviews)

The Srixon Z-STAR golf ball’s proprietary urethane cover is super soft for added spin control, without sacrificing distance. The 324 aerodynamic dimple design, combined with the large Energetic Gradient Growth Core, produces a penetrating ball flight that is unyielding to the wind. The Srixon Z-STAR is a high performance multi layered ball with extremely soft feel, but it is also longer than it’s predecessor. It is the softer of the two premium products and provides slightly more spin and feel around the green and especially from the rough. The Z-STAR performs best with Driver swing speeds between 80 and 105 mph.

Srixon Z Star 2011 Golf Ball Review

The 2011 version of the Srixon Z-Star golf ball moves the design on with a slightly softer feel. The performance is similar to a Pro V1, but maybe a little firmer which we think is a good thing for those who want feel and control combined with a little more distance. The durability is very good and once again Srixon have a challenger in the premium ball market. The 2011 Srixon Z-Star golf ball is differentiated from the 2009 version as it has dots between the name and the arrows on the sidestamp.

If you play off a mid to high handicap, then surely you don't need a premium ball? You don't. And if there's lots of water or deep rough on your local course and you're likely to lose a few balls, you might not want to play with them.

So, what's the advantage? Consistency, feel and distance in my opinion. The Z star gives you all of these. Most outstanding for me is the feel; chips with these from just off the green seem to end up nearer the pin more often than other balls I've used. That may be because I'm more confident using them - it's difficult to be sure without doing a proper test - but it certainly seems to be the outcome.

I've used the white and yellow versions. The yellow balls are certainly easier to see when they're on the fairway but if you lose one in the rough, they can be pretty difficult to find if some of the grass or foliage is slightly yellowed.

I play off a 10 handicap and I have been using this golf ball for sometime now and I love it. I find it has a soft feel but still goes a good distance and when it comes to pitch/chip shot the feel is great as mentioned but also has good check on the green.

I personally use the tour yellow golf ball due to a visual impairment- so I find the yellow much easier to see and compared to other companies that sell yellow golf balls- Srixon's yellow ball us much brighter compared to a duller yellow that Titleist offer.

The only problem with the yellow is the winter when their is plenty of leaves etc in the rough makes it hard to find the ball.

Overall I find this an excellent golf ball for those looking for distance, feel and spin and would recommend it to those with a low-mid handicap.
