The PXG 0341 fairway is named after the US military code for a mortarman and you can see why as you stealthily make your way up the fairway to unleash a missile at the green.

PXG 0341 Fairway

Visually the PXG 0341 certainly has that stealthy menacing look about it from the all black finish to the 11 weight screws on the sole.

These are not there just for effect, as the 5 heavy silver tungsten screws work with the 6 lighter black titanium screws to enable you to vary the weight distribution in the head to optimise the ball flight for your swing.

PXG 0341 Fairway

There are 462 possible combinations and that is before you get to the eight settings for changing loft and lie by +/- 0.75° or 1.5° on the adjustable hosel.

Each one will vary where the centre of gravity can be located and speaking to our local PXG fitter at Scott Gourlay Golf Technology they can also vary the number of heavier screws to change the swing weight according to the length and type of shaft.

Going through a fitting process is mandatory for PXG clubs and to be honest is a good thing as the PXG 0341 offers the most CG combinations of any fairway I have come across to date.

PXG 0341 Fairway

It sits very well at address with a lovely rounded shape that frames the ball and features a couple of subtle alignment lines on the crown.

PXG 0341 Fairway

The head is towards the shallower and compact end of the market by modern standards, but is still pretty forgiving. I like the white groove lines on the face that help you line up the square sitting face.

PXG 0341 Fairway

It has a very solid feel and sound at impact which I liked, as it was deeper and more 'classic' if you know what I mean. The performance was up there with the best in the market and the flight was right where better players would want it, so I would expect this to suit single figure players more than the higher handicappers who might use the PXG 0311 driver.

PXG 0341 Fairway

This is not a particularly cheap fairway and that is partly because of PXG's brand positioning and also because they use high end materials. The chassis of the head is made from 17-4 Stainless Steel, which is not unusual, but the face is from HT1770 high strength steel to enable it to be lighter and thinner.

PXG 0341 Fairway

Overall the 0341 fairway is a worthy member of the PXG clan and one that will suit better players who are going for the whole PXG bag and want to keep it in the family. The screw weighting system is innovative and offers a wide range of fine tuning for those who like something different or who will benefit from this high level of custom fitting.
