The Puma Ignite PWRADAPT shoe builds in a lot of different shoe technologies to a chassis that is lightweight and flexible.

The upper forsakes the traditional shoe style for a 'mesh bootie' that is like a one piece sock layer around your foot.

Therefore there is no tongue so you don't have to worry about joins, although the section under the laces could do with a little more cushioning as when you did the laces tight they did tend to dig in a little.

On top of this to improve the stability is the Puma PWRFRAME which is a very thin TPU layer on top of the mesh to provide support around the heel and mid foot.

It does a good job, but as stability goes, the Puma Ignite PWRADAPT is towards the more flexible end of the scale, so your swing may suit that or not.

The mesh upper actually comes with a 2 year waterproof guarantee which is impressive and in wet conditions I was seeing the water just beading and running off the material.

The sole is made from Puma's Ignite foam that goes the full length of the midsole for the first time in one of their spiked shoes.

Ignite has been used in Puma's golf shoes for a few years now and the foam contracts as you put pressure on it and then rebounds as you lift off to give you a little bit energy lift off.

It is a very comfortable material and when combined with the mesh upper it really does feel like you have put a pair of slippers on when you first put your feet inside.

The sole features seven Champ Tornado spikes within a 'GripZone Traction' sole that has plenty of moulded grips to support the spikes.

The spikes look like they are just stuck on, but closer inspection reveals that each one is in a Pod that allows the spike to move in any direction to ensure greater contact with the ground as you walk.

This is quite clever and the grip from the sole was very good in all conditions, although after a lot of walking on firm links turf I could start to feel the spike positions below my feet, but I am sure on a lush parkland course you would notice this less.

A little extra padding in the insole and under the laces would make the Puma Ignite PWRADAPT perfect, but even as it stands it will be hard to beat for a lightweight, waterproof, high mobility golf shoe.

The Black Panther
April 2018

The pods that allow the cleats to rotate are weak and mines ripped already. The shoes take in water. 2 months waterproof.
