Having previously been one of those golfers that was of the opinion that electric power trolleys were for older/lazy golfers, my viewpoint changed, having taken the time to look into the benefits and upsides of using a modern day electric trolley. After all how many Tour Pro’s do you see lugging around their bags during a round of golf! Why not let an electric trolley take the strain – which then allows you to remain fresh and to focus on the task ahead of trying to execute quality golf shots.I took a stroll one lunchtime to my local golf superstore. I had a look around to see what type of trolleys were on offer. My eye was immediately taken to the PowaKaddy Freeway Digital in White.Simply, the look of this trolley is very modern, stylish and compact, all three criteria I was looking for in an electric trolley. From lying flat on the ground, to fully assembled takes less than 10 seconds and can be performed in two simple clicks – a big thumbs up for me! When looking at batteries for my new trolley, lightness and style were needed to be considered. I opted for a lithium battery which I feel compliments the trolley well and sits neatly tucked away out of sight at the bottom of the trolley. There are other options available, such as 18-hole lead acid and 36-hole lead acid. Both of these options are fine but do add up to an additional 10kg to the trolley. Safely securing and attaching most golf bags is a breeze due to the adjustable clamp support at the top of the trolley and due to the velcro strapping at the base of the trolley which both lock your golf bag in place. The PowaKaddy Freeway Digital is really easy to operate. I had not used an electric trolley before and I found that I could master the controls in a matter of a few holes of twilight golf. There are 9 speed settings, from really slow to jogging pace. Using settings 4 or 5 is quite a brisk walk and is my usual setting. One neat feature of this trolley is the ability to set the trolley to move ahead, 15, 30 or 45 yards by itself. A couple of clicks and whirls of the dial will have the trolley go ahead the desired distance and then come to a standstill. This is a really cool feature and one which will have onlookers looking on aghast (especially if they are kids – or have never seen this feature). The trolley moves freely over most terrain and has a nice sporty look. This is enhanced by the sporty looking wheels and the white colour. I also like the handle, which is a double handle and allows you to grip the trolley with both hands. A great trolley from PowaKaddy!
