The Nike VR_S Forged irons are Nike's most technologically advanced game-improvement irons designed for maximum distance and premium feel.
Combining high-speed performance and meticulous craftsmanship, the VR_S Forged irons use the finest materials, advanced technology and a face-welded forged body and face to produce speed and precision.
Nike Golf's Director of Club Creation, Tom Stites says "These premium forged irons are the epitome of both performance and beauty. They meet the expectations of blade player’s discerning eye, yet they are hot and fast and will deliver on distance".
The VR_S Forged irons feature a Japanese Precision Forged Face that allows for 2.5mm of face thickness, creating extreme COR for precise performance and increased distance. The High Frequency X3X grooves are closer together and deeper on the face to provide more consistancys and control. Lastly, Nike's PowerBow technology postitions the weight on the VR_S Forged iron off the face with a deep pocket design, producing a higher, faster launch.

The Nike VR_S Forged irons continue the long line of very good forged irons from Nike Golf. The VR Pro irons were always going to be hard to top but we feel the VRS Forged irons are worthy of consideration.
The heads are a little larger and feature a new design with a deep under cut cavity and a face welded forged face and body. This is meant to give them more speed and tests with Nike Tour players shows they get the same distance with 1 less club, although the lofts could be different too.
As a result of the cavity the sound is a little more hollow than previous forged irons and on the 4-iron you can just see ti poking out of the rear of the club at address. The forgiveness is very good as well thanks to the larger head and the slight offset through the VRS Forged set. The feel is very good throughout the set and the ball really feels like it is bouncing off the face with a mid to high trajectory.
The face features Nike's X3X grooves, which go down the route of lots of shallow grooves instead of fewer deeper ones to stay within the rules. They work fine, but visually we are not mad about seeing so many grooves on the face.
The PowerBow cavity weight on the rear of the head is cambered on the sole away from the ground so the VR_S Forged irons play more like blades than they look.
Overall the VR_S Forged irons are more like a better player's VR Pro Cavity and are probably the better choice. The are very easy to hit and the combination or feel and forgiveness should appeal to 5-12 handicaps.
