In 2011, Garmin launched their first GPS Watch in the Garmin S1. Now for the 2013 season, they have upgraded the Approach range by introducing the Garmin S2 Approach watch.

Boasting the same preloaded 30,000+ course memory as the S1, the Garmin S2 offers a updated, sleek design, more colour options and some interesting new features.

"The Approach S2 is the perfect companion for the recreational golfer," said Garmin's President of Worldwide Sales, Dan Bartel. "With over 30,000 courses across the world available out of the box, matched with the extensive measurement features and digital scorecard, this device will instantly give golfers a competitive edge."

With the S2, there is no need to preload courses via your computer, simply switch on the device when you arrive at the course and it will automatically detect the course and also automatically transfer you from hole to hole. The Garmin S2 offers golfers distances to the front, middle and back of greens on it's 1-inch display.

New to the S2 Approach is the ability to display layup and dogleg distances. Unsure of whether to hit driver off the tee? Not sure if you can get to the par-5 in two? Not a problem with the S2 that will tell you how far it is to the dogleg or how far you need to hit it to leave 150 or 200 yards.

With it's rechargable lithium ion battery, the S2 can also display the time, show how far you've walked during your round or let your keep your score via the digital scorecard function. Those scores can even be saved, viewed and analysed through Garmin's web based program.

The Garmin S1 was available in either white or black. The S2 can be purchased in 3 colour options: white/grey, black/red or purple/white.

Amazingly, the Garmin S2 Approach is also waterproof to 10m, meaning that you won't need to take it off to fish out your ball from the water hazard!

The Garmin S2 Approach watch will be in shops from March and will be released with an RRP of £209.99.
