FootJoy's shoe fitting drive saw 3,500 golfers custom fit for their footwear in 2014, including Golfalot. We were very impressed by the process and it is no surprise they continue to push the benefits with the launch of the FootJoy Contour Series 2015 shoe.
The Contour Series is actually the best selling shoe in golf, with FootJoy selling 7 million pairs worldwide so far. The 2015 version sees a refreshed and improved version of the shoe that stays true to core elements of the shoes appeal, namely it's fit and comfort.
The 2015 Countour Series design results in a shoe that is lighter, softer and more flexible. The previous generation Contour weighed 456g with the new version weighing in at 399g for a 12.5% reduction in weight.
These savings have come throughout the shoe thanks to the introduction of new materials, such as a thinner and lighter version of the premium UltraSof full grain leather upper, and a lighter midsole that combines FJ's Fine-Tune Foam and a lightweight EVA.
Weight has also been trimmed from the Duramax rubber outsole without sacrificing any of the stability that FJ have packed into the design, including the TPU Stability Bridge and the OptiFlex Forefront Flex Zone. Impact testing has proven that over 2000 flexes, the outsole is 9% more flexible than the previous generation Contour Series.
With comfort and fit key drivers, the extra 4% cushioning from the SofCollar is enhanced by the moulded Contoured Fit-Bed that provides better cushioning and support. Pressure on the feet while walking around the course is also removed by the Zarma Cleats by Champ that provide a soft cushion layer that lessens spike pressure and reduces impact.
A newly designed Sport tongue is also lighter and more breathable that again improves the comfort of the shoe.
The last of the shoe is the same as the previous generation Contour series, but the twin saddle design has been refreshed with six new colour combinations. The all black design is also available with the popular BOA lacing system.
