The Wilson Spine driver is certainly eye-catching and very easy to hit, as you would expect from this style of club.

The Spine design of the head was easy on the eye and a great aide for aligning the club at address. By ‘scooping’ weight out of the crown and repositioning it around the club’s perimeter, the centre of gravity is lower and deeper.

The prominent ridge line on the top of the club that resembles a spine, reinforces the face behind the impact area for greater ball speed at impact. This provides the Wilson Spine driver with increased stability throughout the swing plane and helps the player hit the ball with a lower spin rate and at a higher launch angle for greater trajectory and distance.

The feel at impact was good, but the sound was a little hollow for our liking.

I've had this driver for around a decade now and I am in no rush to change it. I can rely on it to deliver a long straight drive almost every time. Alright, it sounds a bit goofy but who cares. It is known as the 'biscuit tin' among my golfing buddies because of the sound... but I'm the one consistently down the middle while they are looking in the bushes.

I tried my golf buddy's Wilson spine 9* driver with the stiff V2 Proforce shaft and hit 247 yards total distance. My normal drive would be about 200-210. It was a bullet with a medium trajectory. I ordered a 9 & 10.5 with the same stiff shaft from ebay. Cant wait to pick them up from my brothers as I pass thru Canada.

Be not afraid of this driver's asthetics, sound at impact or brand stamp. This is a quality club. As long as you do not overswing, and let the club do its job, this driver will send it down the middle with a low and swift trajectory, time after time.

While shopping for an updated driver, I tried a Ping G15, Calloway Diablo and the Taylormade Burner. Not one of them had the control of the Spine. Feel is a bit muted which did affect my ability to shape my shots, but it wasn't enough to change my opinion. There also might be a loss of distance against the other drivers mentioned, but the amount is negligible in my opinion (3-7 yards in my testing which was still in the 260 yards range).

Bottom line, consistency and forgiveness are the selling points here and Wilson's offering does a wonderful job. This driver will be my undisputed favorite on windy days. For a driver that is now selling in the $80-100 range, why spend an extra $100-200 for a few yards and a more solid sound? I hope this review helps and I am a 9 handicap at my home course if that matters to anyone.

I bought this driver a couple of weeks ago. I took it out on the course and straight away I found myself hitting longer and straighter drives, which is extremely pleasing to see when you have a high handicap! This is a must buy for any golfer with a high handicap in my opinion. It does sound very hollow compared to most drivers I have used but if it improves your game does that really matter? Definitely not!

I have this Wilson Spine driver and I love it. I have been playing golf since September this year and already it's won me a longest drive (307 yards) in a charity golf day. It does sound a bit tinny, but when you drive that distance who cares.

The Wilson Spine driver is not for me. The head sits very closed and there is a bit to much going on with alignment aids and groves on the top of the club. The noise at impact is not good either. It sounds terrible and has a very hollow pinging sound and is not good! The ball flight is fairly flat, but I was always feeling that I opening the club face up way to much to stop me hitting it straight left. Nice headcover though
