For a long time now Cleveland's hybrid's have been sneaky good and the Cleveland Classic Hybrid is one of the best. It combines the tall face previous models with glide rails on the sole to make it easy to hit from a variety of lies.
At address the head looks a lovely shape and just the right size. It retains some of the silver styling around the hosel of previous Launcher models but then across the crown it is a lovely black finish with no distractions that contrasts well with the silver face to aid alignment. The face is taller than most and that fits with the rest of the Classic family as this makes it very forgiving across the face.
The centre of the sole has a cambered 'V' in the centre which allows the centre of the face to 'reach down' almost to get the ball out of poor lies. The sole also features 2 'glide rails' either side of the camber to help guide the club through the turf and keep it on line. This is a tried and trusted feature on hybrids and high lofted fairways and it is combined very well into the Classic Hybrid.
Players of all levels will benefit from the club and it will appeal to the better end of spectrum as there is very little offset and the flight was penetrating whilst not ballooning. The feel was also excellent and it was easy to shape shots if you wanted to.
The Cleveland Classic hybrid features the Matrix XCon-h6 which was lively and light to complement the head well. It must be a good shaft for Cleveland to use it rather than their sister company Miyazaki's shafts. With a competitive price and great all round performance this is one of the best hybrids in the market so check it out.
