Who? 35 year-old American Kevin Kisner.
What? The 2019 WGC - Dell Technologies Match Play, his third PGA Tour victory.
Where? Austin CC, Austin, Texas.
How? After being overpowered in the final last year by Bubba Watson, Kisner was able to get his revenge in 2019. Despite losing his first match to Ian Poulter, Kisner rallied and won his next two to set-up a playoff against Ian Poulter, which he won to progress to the knockout rounds.
From there, he made it past Haotong Li, Louis Oosthuizen and a red-hot Francesco Molinari to meet Matt Kuchar in the final. Having built a two-up lead after seven holes, he closed out the match with a 20-foot birdie putt on the 16th.
Following the victory, Kisner said:
It was gruelling, definitely with the winds, the temperature today. Overall it was a long week, but I prevailed and I'm a world golf champion.
