How? Horschel became the first American winner of the event since 1975 with a thrilling finish at Wentworth, hitting a wedge shot to tap-in distance on the final hole to shoot 65 and claim a one-stroke victory over Laurie Canter, Jamie Donaldson and Kiradech Aphibarnrat. Bernd Wiesberger managed to claim the final spot in the Ryder Cup places, with Shane Lowry, Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter getting Captain's Picks and Justin Rose missing out.
