Puma Golf is, much like the rest of us, looking ahead to the summer and warmer weather with a new Play Loose collection of clothing and accessories. The range is designed to reflect the relaxed feel of surf culture whilst creating a bright, fun and cool look to be showcased on the golf course.
As Puma’s main man on Tour, Rickie Fowler will of course be modelling the range in all of its glory later this month when he tees it up at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open. The coastal course providing the perfect location to see the new gear in action.
Puma say that Play Loose is inspired by vintage surf style, with coastal designs combining with familiar golf detailing, to provide a relaxed and fun approach to normal golf wear. The pieces are designed to be easy to wear and offer a natural transition from a round on the course to a day out at the beach.
Puma Golf’s Global Head of Apparel Kristin Hinze explains the reasoning behind this bold new range:
This collection, inspired by the tropics, provides a fun, laidback approach to traditional golf apparel. Play Loose delivers a casual style with easy to wear pieces perfect for heading to the golf course, or to a day at the beach.

The Puma Play Loose Collection is another example of golf brands attempting to bridge that gap between on-course and off-course apparel, with a range of apparel that would look just as good on the beach as it would on the fairway.
However this more relaxed styling, including shirts which are intended to be untucked and slip-on shoes, is bound to have some of its critics who would argue that it is 'just not golf'.
But this seems to be the way in which golf clothing is moving, and if it captures the attention of more budding golfers and gives them the freedom and confidence to get out on the golf course and express themselves, then what's not to like?
We think that this collection features some pretty smart pieces. Now all we're asking for is the right weather so we can get a chance to show it off! Is it April yet?
