Payntr are the latest name to have entered the golf shoe market this year, seeking to provide performance footwear guided by the principle of 'Performance Multiplied'.
The brand was started by former professional cricket David Paynter, who decided to try his hand at developing footwear having become frustrated by having to wear traditional cricket spikes. For those of you who've had the privilege of this, you'll know that they're big, heavy and pretty uncomfortable, particularly when worn for hours on end.
Having achieved initial success in the cricket world, with endorsements from the likes of MS Dhoni and Michael Vaughan, Paynter decided to branch out into the golf market, another passion of David's.
He has enlisted the expertise of US based Mike Forsey, who has three decades of experience working on golf footwear with the likes of Nike, FootJoy and Under Armour, and is leading up the technology team in this latest venture.
Payntr's first golf shoe is named the X 001 F and is evidence of their new Performance Multiplied ethos, where Force x Velocity = Power.
Payntr is giving golfers a traction advantage. The shoe amplifies the golfer's ability to use the ground as leverage and generate more power to the ball. Payntr sees the golf shoe as golf equipment. Just as ball and clubhead speed are critical to performance, so is harnessing the power from the ground up in our feet.
If you think about it, your foot and your shoe are the only things that are in contact with the ground. So, your shoe has to give your support, energy return, comfort, be waterproof and lightweight. We believe we achieved each of those things in the X 001 F.

There are four main technologies included within the new shoe:
- Performance Enhancing Traction
This is a 3D traction system which incorporates rotational, horizontal and vertical dimension.
Rotational Dimension - A lightweight yet supportive TPU Outsole is designed specifically with traction nubs in the forefoot and lateral heel, to help prevent slippage as the shoe rotates during the golf swing.
Horizontal Dimension - The Dual Durometer Midsole supports the horizontal weight shift thanks to a firm EVA material in the heel and forefoot which improves flexibility and increases ground contact.
Vertical Dimension - A responsive graphite power plate provides responsive energy return, allowing golfers to better utilise ground reaction forces in the golf swing.
The shoe combines a lightweight breathable upper with soft, supportive underfoot cushioning and a PMX Foam midsole for all-day comfort and specific support in different areas of the foot during the swing. There's also a vented tongue which is designed to wick perspiration away from the foot for a comfortable experience regardless of the weather conditions.
The TPU outsole and PMX Foam midsole house a lightweight graphite power plate which helps golfers to delivery maximum energy return, generating better ground reaction.
Treated with a 'superhydrophobic' Never Wet solution, the X 001 F is built to bead water directly off the shoe's surface in wet conditions to ensure that no round of golf is spoiled by the rain.
The Payntr X 001 F Shoe is available now at an RRP of £120, and comes in three colourways: classic white, cool grey and anthracite black.
The brand have hinted at further expansion of their product line in the not-too-distant future, with plans to release a women's shoe as well as clothing and accessories already in the works, so prepare to see the Payntr name in pro shops very soon...
