One of the key aspects of putting is getting your eye and hand position set up correctly and the Odyssey Red Ball Putter is specifically designed to help you achieve this.
As the name suggests, there is a litte red ball on the sole of the putter that is visible through a 'scope' circle on the top when the putter is at address.
The idea is to get your eyes over the golf ball and when you clearly see all of the Red Ball in the scope then your eyes are over the ball. If you can't see the Red Ball completely then they are not.
For example if your eyes are too far inside the ball then the Red Ball will show in the bottom half of the scope and you therefore need to adjust your posture until it is in full view again.
Once you have the right posture, the Red Ball also helps you get the putter pointing in the right direction using Odyssey's Versa alignment scheme that uses black and white shapes to help you get the face square to the target.
Callaway feel sure that the combination of the two design features in the same head will enable golfers to set up and then align the head more easily and therefore make more putts.
The Red Ball mallet design also follows the lead set by the Odyssey EXO putters where weight is moved to the edge of the head because of the space around the Red Ball in the centre in order to increase the MOI and make it more forgiving on off-centre hits.
The face uses the White Hot RX insert that first appeared on the Odyssey White Hot RX putters in 2016.
The RX insert uses the renowned White Hot material with a mesh pattern embedded on the front to create a softer feel and a better roll.
Available in store from July 2018 around the world, the Odyssey Red Ball putter sets up so you can have your eye on the ball when you are putting.
