Cobra has unveiled details of their new Snakebite wedge for 2021, featuring a nostalgic throwback King Cobra logo and a new groove design which is created to maximise spin and produce a little more 'bite' around the greens.

Cobra King Snakebite Wedge

The Snakebite Groove Technology benefits from a re-engineered cutting method which replenishes cutting tools more often to tighten groove tolerances, maximises the volume of the grooves and makes the sharpest and most accurate groove design possible.

The new Snakebite design is said to increase the depth of the grooves by 11% and sharpen the edges by 40%, helping to deliver maximum spin rates.

A progressive groove system changes the length and shape of the grooves in each wedge head, to optimise the spin for each different loft.

The 48-54 degree lofts feature a traditional groove length along with narrower and deeper grooves, to deliver consistent spin and trajectories on the lower lofted wedges which are used for longer, square-faced shots.

The 56-60 degree lofts feature full-face grooves and wider, shallower grooves which help to maximise spin on shots with an open face where the ball is more likely to be struck from more towards the toe.

The faces and grooves are CNC Milled on each wedge, to create the most precise face and groove shape for optimal spin and trajectory control.

The Cobra Snakebite Wedge is available in three different grinds:

  • Versatile Grind: an excellent all-around grind for medium to firm course conditions, featuring toe, heel and trailing edge relief.

  • Classic Grind: features a progressive sole width from heel-to-toe, with trailing edge relief, benefitting neutral to steeper swings and a variety of course conditions.

  • Widelow Grind: a wide, low bounce sole works its magic out of soft bunkers, soft turf conditions and prevents the leading edge from digging.

The Snakebite wedge is also available in Cobra's One Length configuration, providing the same spin-enhancing groove technologies but with a 37.5" shaft which promotes a repeatable setup and swing for more consistent results.

The One Length wedge is available in 56 and 60 degree lofts in a Versatile Grind with full-face grooves.

The standard Snakebite Wedge is offered from 50-60 degrees in the Versatile grind, 56, 58 and 60 degrees in the Widelow grind and 52, 56 and 60 degrees in the Classic grind.

Priced at £109, the wedges come complete with a black Lamkin Crossline Smart grip and KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 shaft, along with the Cobra Connect Technology powered by Arccos.

They are available at retail from March 26th this year.
