Last year Cleveland released their RTX 4 wedge, built specifically to the demands and preferences of their tour players including Graeme McDowell and Champion Golfer of the Year, Shane Lowry.
However, the brand are also conscious that the vast majority of golfers do not have the ball-striking skills of the best players in the world, and instead favour cavity back irons.
Therefore, the new Cleveland CBX 2 cavity back wedge is meant to give golfers an easy transition from iron to wedge, with a clear emphasis on providing greater forgiveness levels to amateur golfers with the scoring clubs.
Brian Schielke, Marketing Director at Cleveland Golf, commented:
The short game is critical to playing your best golf, and playing wedges designed for your game - and the shots you like to hit - is key. That's why Cleveland CBX 2 wedges were created. They make the short game easier and more forgiving for the majority of golfers out there playing game-improvement equipment.
The CBX 2 features a new Hollow-Cavity design, with a hollow chamber near the heel and a heavy weight placed in the toe.
This layout helps to maximise MOI by optimising perimeter weighting for greater forgiveness, while still maintaining a sleek, compact look down by the ball.
There are three distinct sole grind offerings, C, S and V, which are arranged by loft and deliver more versatility so that you have the confidence to execute any shot around the green.
The wedges will also include Cleveland's Feel Balancing Technology which features a new toe-biased centre of gravity, along with a new Gelback TPU Insert which reduces vibration at impact. This all works together to provide a 'soft, satisfying feel and crisp feedback'.
As with any wedge, spin levels are obviously a key component. The CBX 2 features Rotex Face Technology, which is now in its fourth generation, along with Tour Zip Grooves, laser milling and aggressive face milling for ultimate spin and short game control.
The V-Shaped Sole grind is offered in 46°-52° lofts, the S-Shaped Sole grind is offered in 54° and 56° lofts and the C-Shaped Sole grind is offered in 58° and 60° lofts. The wedges are available in left and right-handed options at an SRP of £119.
