It's hard to believe it was just 2010 when Fred Couples first wore a pair of Ecco Street shoes down the fairways at Augusta. Since then, the Street shoe and the casual golf shoe market in general has exploded.
Today, the company that designed the first "Street" golf shoe, has announced its latest version, the Ecco Street EVO One shoe.
Offered in a range of vibrant colours, the Street EVO One is described by Ecco as a "performance hybrid shoe" and and features an array of Ecco's latest proprietary technology and features.
“The way Street EVO One looks, feels and plays puts it in a class by itself,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “It’s yet another example of the advantages that come with our foot-first approach to designing and producing premium golf shoes.”
One of key features of the Street EVO One is the new sole design. A direct-injected midsole has been combined with a new integrated shank piece. Typically an unspoken word in golf, Ecco are keen to let golfers know how their shank can actually improve your game.
The shank-piece design is darker in colour, visible in the photos below, and carefully cups and cushions a golfer's heel. As well as providing a stable platform for a golfer swing, the heel piece delivers improved comfort and torsional support.
The new sole design is actually a touch wider than the previous versions of Ecco's Street shoes. 100 carefully designed, moulded traction bars combine to provide 800 "traction angles" that work together to offer improved traction.
Ecco's Dynamic Traction System (E-DTS) is made from TPU, which of course you know refers to a Thermoplastic Polyurethane material. Ecco have worked hard to produce a sole that is highly durable and wear-resistent, whilst still offering "Tour-quality grip."
Each of Ecco's golf shoes is made at one of Ecco's own factories. They have the rare ability to control the entire process from the raw materials to the finished shoe. The upper designs of the new Street EVO One are built in these factories, and features a two-colour colour combination in a sleek, modern new look.
The Ecco Street EVO One will be available in two different versions, a high-grade cow leather and a genuine camel leather version. Which ever you choose, you will benefit from Ecco's Hydromax tanned-in treatment that helps produce a shoe built for any type of weather.
