When they were released last year the Ecco Cage golf shoes represented a new take on stability.
We were impressed with the Cage concept when we reviewed them and Ecco has taken this a step further, as the name suggests, with the next generation Ecco Cage Evo shoe.
The Cage Evo combines the fully-integrated Direct-injection Process (DIP) wrap system with a multi-material upper that brings together a PU-structured textile and a polyurethane webbing.
Seen for the first time in the Evo Cage this gives the shoes a comfortable fit as well as providing full protection from the elements.
Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at Ecco, is excited by the new product:
With the original Ecco Cage having been so well-received internationally, we’re extremely excited about the introduction of this lightweight and eye-catching addition to our cleated family.
As in the original, the one-piece DIP stability cage wraps around the foot from the heel, through the midsole and across the toe to keep the foot secure. This works with the anatomical outsole design that aligns with the ligaments and muscles in the foot to allow it to move correctly through the swing. The design is finished off with the Ecco Freedom Fit that combines a closer heel setting with more room in the forefoot area to allow the toes to move naturally.
The upper uses Ecco's proprietary Hydromax treatment to keep the water out whilst traction is provided by Champ's Slim-Lok cleat system that is optimised to the low-to-the ground design.
The Ecco Cage Evo are available in a choice of five colours: Sulphur-Concrete / Black; Dark Shadow-Dark Shadow / Sulphur; Concrete-Wild Dove / Coral Blush; Bermuda Blue-Ombre / Bermuda Blue; Black-Black/Brick.
