Cobra is expanding their range of irons for the better player, and following in the footsteps of last year's wedge release, by unveiling the new King Tour Irons complete with MIM technology.

Said to reinvent the way that premium irons are designed and manufactured, the King Tour is a tour cavity back shape with a precise shape and Cobra says they have produced a better feel than any forged offering on the market.
This is all done thanks to their Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology, which produces a more precise product which requires fewer steps and less hands-on contact to finalise, leading to more consistent results.
Each iron head is created using a mixture of 304 stainless steel metal power, which is heated and injected into a mold. The metal is heated to a higher temperature than with forged irons (1340° vs 1200°) and this is said to strengthen the grain structure for a higher level of precision and soft feel similar to that of a carbon steel forging.

The final step is a subtle hand-polishing of the head to produce a satin finish and remove excess materials, and this is much less laborious than other forgings processes to ensure that the shape remains consistent from set to set.
"We've used our MIM process over the past two years to deliver softer and more precisely-shaped designs in our wedges. Now, in response to demand from better players and our Tour staffers, seeking the same benefits in a full set of irons, our R&D team delivered the King Tour irons."
"These irons are softer than any forged offerings on the market, and like their wedge counterparts, offer better consistency in shaping for more precision shot-making on the course."
"While soft feel and consistency are important in the short-game, optimising these attributes throughout an entire iron set will give golfers better performance across a wider range of shot selections."
Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D for Cobra Golf.
Cobra has also included a number of other technologies in the new King Tour irons alongside the MIM process, which are said to promote precision, forgiveness and feel:
- Tungsten Weighting - A tungsten weight in the toe better positions the centre of gravity behind the hitting zone, to deliver pure and precise shots with added stability for tighter dispersion.

- TPU Insert - A thermoplastic polyurethane insert, positioned behind the hitting zone, dampens vibrations for a soft buttery feel at impact.

- Cobra Connect Technology - The Cobra Connect system, powered by Arccos, uses Smart grips on each iron to sync with the Arccos Caddie app. This gives users the ability to track shot data, allowing them to improve faster.
The Cobra King Tour MIM Irons are available in 4-PW in right hand only, with 3-iron and Gap Wedge options also available via custom order.

Each iron comes equipped with a KBS $-Taper 120 shaft in regular or stiff, along with a Cobra Lamkin Crossline Connect grip.
The set retails at £999 and will be available from 30th October online and in Pro Shops.
