Callaway say the Big Bertha Alpha 816 is their most advanced fairway wood to date, offering speed and adjustability for better players.
Designed to give golfers shot-shot making ability and faster ball speeds, Callaway say the Alpha 816 fairway has been engineered to bring out the highest performance in players' games.
Distance comes from transferring the high swing speeds of good players into faster speeds from the face and in Callaway's fairways this is where their Forged Hyper Speed Face comes into play.
The face used across Callaway's fairway offering is light and thin, increasing ball speeds across the whole face for greater and more consistent distance.
The Big Bertha Alpha 816 continues the weight adjustability options introduced in the Alpha 815 fairway with two interchangeable weights of 3g and 16g allowing you to tailor the ball flight to your game.
By moving the heavier weight forward the club will spin less for a more penetrating flight, whilst swapping them over increases forgiveness and moves the centre of gravity to create a higher launch.
The sole design has also been shaped to give control from a variety of lies. Combined with the OptiFit adjustability and three loft options, the Big Bertha Alpha 816 provides a playable option from the fairway and with the lowest loft option being 14° also offers a genuine option from the tee.
The heads are slightly larger than standard for fairway woods, with the 14° version having a head of 165cc, and this means a higher MOI for more forgiveness than is found in many elite players fairways.
