The driver is, for many, the club that can make or break a round of golf. Yes, the putter is important too, but if you can't get off the tee and in play with any consistency then you're going to struggle.
Luckily for us, manufacturers are aware of this and each year they are constantly striving to bring out a product which is going to make our lives easier and get us finding the short grass more often.
They can be very expensive though, with price tags upwards of £500 becoming more and more the norm. As a result, you want to make sure you're making the right decision when it comes to the big stick.
At Golfalot we have tested all of the best drivers currently available on the market to give you a better idea of which models we think you should be testing. Here they are...

Quick Hit: Cobra have done it again with a driver that performs brilliantly and again offers better value for money than the likes of TaylorMade and Callaway.
The Tech: Cobra claim they have produced a 'unicorn driver' with a zero CGna which means you can get optimal distance and accuracy all in one club. Pwr-Cor technology repositions weight low and forward in the head to lower spin and increase ball speed, whilst a new H.O.T Face gives you better results even if you strike it off-centre.
Golfalot Says: It's the real deal and just as good as the rest. If you are looking to buy a new driver then the LTDx range has to be on your list to try in 2022.

Quick Hit: 18 months after it was first released, the TSi3 is still right up there among the best on the market for ball speed and distance.
The Tech: A new aerodynamic head design is said to decrease drag over the crown by 15%, whilst an ATI 425 Face insert is designed to be faster, stronger and have a higher elasticity. The head also has a track weight on the sole which allows golfers to fine-tune CG to suit their own game.
Golfalot Says: The flight, height and strike were exactly what I was looking for in a driver. I felt the driver performed great but also looked great.

Quick Hit: TaylorMade always go bold with their designs and marketing strategy and the carbon-faced Stealth is no different, but it's backed up with excellent performance too.
The Tech: The bright red carbon face is 40% lighter than titanium which allows TaylorMade to increase the size of the face, whilst using 60 layers of carbon produces more ball speed than the previous SIM2. The Stealth has 15% higher MOI than the Stealth Plus, making it the more forgiving model in the range.
Golfalot Says: The Stealth offered distance, accuracy and consistency. It’s the most excited I have been about a TaylorMade driver since I started testing with Golfalot and performance spoke for itself.

Quick Hit: The Rogue ST Max is a big improvement on the Mavrik and Epic ranges, with fantastic stability which inspires confidence along with pretty decent distance too.
The Tech: A Tungsten Speed Cartridge places 26 grams of weight low and deep into the head to increase speed on off-centre strikes and offer a higher MOI. The Jailbreak Speed Frame offers more stability in horizontal and torsional directions for better consistency and higher ball speeds, whilst the Speed Tuned Face lowers spin while adding forgiveness.
Golfalot Says: The driver is £479 which is high end, but the driver performs and looks like a £479 driver should. Middle of the fairway will be more achievable with this club, and if it can make me straighter off the tee then I am sure it’ll help you also.

Quick Hit: Typical Ping driver is loud and friendly, with improved looks and stability compared to the G410.
The Tech: Tungsten weighting has been added thanks to improvements to the design of the Dragonfly crown pattern, shifting the CG lower and further back to achieve record levels of MOI. A precision forged face maximises flexing to deliver fast ball speeds with more distance.
Golfalot Says: If it's stability that you're after, then the G425 Drivers are as good as it gets.
