Adidas has announced the latest incarnation of their leading Tour360 model with two new releases. The Tour360 XT features what Adidas are saying is the highest performing outsole in their history. The Tour360 XT SL becomes the first ever spikeless version of the model for those who are lucky enough to play in dry conditions and want a shoe that can be worn on and off the course.
Available from 1st February, the new Tour360 range gets its name from the X-shaped X-Traxion system on the outsole which is designed to allow multi-directional grip, perfect for swinging a golf club. With eight-sided touch points you should remain stable throughout your swing, even when on uneven lies or less favourable ground surfaces.
Masun Denison, global footwear director at Adidas Golf, said:
We wanted to make the highest performing spikeless shoe in the industry. We tested all shapes and configurations and found that the X-shape, along with a rubberised TPU outsole, provided unmatched grip, stability, flexibility and performance. The X-shape also increases ground contact and provides more comfort on all surfaces.
Adidas Tour360 XT SL
This is the first time that adidas has created the Tour360 as a spikeless model, and they are claiming that it is ‘changing the definition of what a performance golf shoe can be’. While this might seem a bold statement, its clear that the shoe is packed with some pretty impressive technology.
The entire outsole features the X-Traxion system to ensure that no traction is lost compared to a spiked shoe, whilst still providing the light feel and comfort that a spikeless model offers. One clever aspect of this design is that some of the x-shaped lugs are longer than others. Ensuring that they go deeper into the ground to provide more grip in certain areas of the foot, which should help overall stability.
There is also an X-torsion system through the mid-foot which helps with this, where the heel and front of the foot are connected via an x-shape which is visible through the TPU outsole.
Adidas has kept the popular Boost in the midsole too which gives great added comfort and energy return, so that you feel fresh for the duration of your round.
The Tour360 XT SL comes in four colourways, and features a one-year waterproof guarantee.
Adidas Tour360 XT
The first Adidas Tour 360 shoe was launched in 2005 and has been it's headline product ever since. But now it has undergone another redesign with the Tour360 XT, as they look to remain as one of the market-leaders in the spiked-shoe field.
One of the main new additions is the improved TPU outsole, where X-Traxion lugs are added to the existing spikes to provide even more grip and stability. There are now eight spikes, rather than ten, to allow for increased flexibility and comfort with the added bonus of removing weight.
The Boost cushioning has been widened in the heel and forefoot, as well as having a lower-profile look for a better appearance whilst still retaining comfort, and also giving golfers more feel with the ground.
Underneath the famous three stripes, adidas has implemented a new forging technique by heating that portion of the upper to increase stability in the mid-foot while also reducing overall weight of the shoe.
The Tour360 XT features a rich premium leather upper with a two-year waterproof warranty, and will be available in four colourways: White/Silver, White/Blue, White/Red, and Black.
Both models feature a new Insite sockliner which cups the heel and holds it in place for better stability, and can also help to promote a better posture.
The Tour360 XT and Tour360 XT SL come in medium and wide options while both models are offered on a brand new last which has improved aesthetics, given more forefoot width and a slightly lower ceiling.
The spikeless version is priced at £139.95 and the spiked version at £159.95 RRP and are available from 1st February.
