Who? 32 year-old Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy.

What? The 2021 Wells Fargo Championship, his 19th PGA Tour victory.

Where? Quail Hollow Golf Club, Charlotte, North Carolina.

How? McIlroy ended a winning drought of over 18 months with a victory at a course where he is now a four-time winner, with a display of excellent putting and scrambling over the week which gave him an eventual one-stroke victory. Birdies at the 14th and 15th gave him a two-shot lead down the last, but a pulled tee shot meant that he had to take a penalty stroke and then two-putt from around 40 feet for a very satisfying victory.
