Whilst a certain driver manufacturer recently released a white version of a black driver, Nike have announced they are doing the opposite.
Starting May 15th, they will be releasing a limited-edition matte black VRS Covert 2.0 driver. The idea and design was inspired by college American Football in the US, where teams often incorporate black uniforms for season openers or big rivalry games.
Here's Nike Golf's Global Golf Club Business Director, Rob Arluna, on the new look:
The Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver offers a unique, limited-edition design combined with Nike’s high speed cavity back technology. The matte black finish on the head provides a sleek, modern aesthetic and eliminates glare. The black grip and shaft give the driver a stealth, covert look.
Besides the obvious colour change, the driver will be identical to the original VRS Covert 2.0 driver. It features the same cavity-back design as used by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The second generation Covert drivers also features a re-engineered Fly-Brace technology that stiffened the rear portion of the head.
As with both the VRS Covert 2.0 and Covert 2.0 Tour drivers, the matte-black model will feature Nike's FlexLoft adjustability that allows you to alter and set your driver's loft and face angle to one of 15 different settings.
The limited-edition VRS Covert 2.0 will be available from selected shops in May and will retail for £249.99. It comes fitted with a limited-edition black Tour Wrap 2G grip and all-black Kuro Kage Black shaft.
Bad news for lefties however, it is only available in right-handed models.
