Cobra have added another club to their existing King lineup with the launch of the new King Tec Hybrid, designed for better players who want a versatile club that can produce both off the tee and for longer approach shots into the green.
The King Tec Hybrid is the first of Cobra's hybrids to come with the Pwrshell face, which was a feature of the latest Radspeed irons. This uses a thin, forged 455 stainless steel L-cup insert which is extremely flexible to promote faster ball speeds with a higher launch across the face.
The hybrid sports a new two-tone, carbon fibre crown which saves 10g of weight to be repositioned lower in the back of the clubhead to lower the CG.
This all combines to produce that winning combination of high launch-low spin which many players desire to generate more carry distance and a soft landing into greens.
The head has a slightly oversized profile which aims to add a little extra forgiveness, whilst the leading edge has more of a square finish that should suit the eye of better players and aims to inspire more confidence in producing a controlled ball flight.
To ensure that the King Tec Hybrid can suit a wide range of golfers, it features an adjustable weight and loft system. There are three adjustable weights (two 12g weights and one 2g weight) which can be positioned in the toe, heel or front of the club head depending on the golfer's desired ball flight.
The MyFly hosel features 8 different loft settings which can be adjusted 1.5 degrees either way from the initial loft, including 3 draw settings, allowing players to dial in their preferred launch and spin characteristics.
"We're excited to bring MyFly technology and adjustability to our hybrids. The ability to fine-tune your trajectory while gaining more distance is what better players look to achieve."
Jose Miraflor, Vice President of Marketing & Product Architecture, Cobra Golf
The King Tec Hybrid is available in right and left hand in four different lofts - 17°, 19°, 21° and 24°. Each hybrid comes with either a Mitsubishi Chemical MMT 80 shaft (S, X) or MMT 70 (R).
Available from 1st July, the hybrid is priced at £239/€279.
