Cobra has launched the King F6 irons that they say are the ultimate progressive set giving players the feel, distance, control and precision exactly where they need it on the course.

Cobra King F6 Irons

Progressive iron sets basically mean that the construction and technology of the iron changes through the set so that the club you are using is best suited to the job in hand. This seems sensible but achieving this aim without compromising the flow of the set, so players feel that each iron naturally fits, is not as easy at it sounds.

Cobra has achieved this in the King F6 irons by using what they are calling Tecflo construction, meaning that the construction of the irons change dramatically

The long irons, from 3 iron to 5 iron, are a full hollow design with a face insert, giving the clubs a very low centre of gravity (CG) and a highly responsive face making them easier to hit with a high ball flight.

The mid irons, numbers 6 and 7, have a half hollow design that gives the head an extremely thin face design allowing the movement of weight saved to other area of the head to optimise CG position to deliver more precise and easy to hit irons to help the players hit more greens in regulation from middle distances. These irons also have an aluminium cap that replaces steel and frees up a further 5g of weight that is repositioned to improve flight.

Entering the scoring zones, Cobra is using a cavity back design for the 8 iron through to the PW that allows for a low/back GC position to give more spin and added shot control.

Finally, the King F6 irons have what Cobra call a speciality wedge design for the Gap and Sand wedges that give players added versatility and shot control around the greens.

It is not only the construction of the heads that progresses throughout the set as the King F6 irons also benefit from progressive spin technology. This sees the spin and launch conditions optimised for every club in the set with the 4-6 irons having V-grooves on the face, the 7-PW featuring U-grooves and the Gap and Sand wedges having wedge spaced grooves across the face.

V-grooves reduce spin from the long irons to increase distance and consistency, U-grooves provide optimised spin for more precision from the mid irons and the grooves on the wedges help to create the extras spin you require for shots into and around the green.

The King F6 irons also feature a speed channel sole and face where a slot is positioned on the sole close to the leading edge of the iron and around the perimeter of the upper back cavity, creating more flex at impact for greater distance. The hitting surface itself is the largest unsupported face that Cobra has put into a set of irons made possible due to an extremely deep perimeter undercut, giving extreme distance from centre strikes whilst maintaining ball speed on off centre hits.

All of the Cobra King F6 irons are finished with a premium Nickel Chrome/PVD plating that gives the clubs both enhanced durability as well as an inspiring aesthetic look at address.
