WARNING: This new Cobra driver should only be used by experienced, skilled golfers.
That is the disclaimer that should accompany the new BiO CELL Pro driver from Cobra. Rickie Fowler has been using the new design for the past few months and along with input from other Cobra players helped design the new low CG, compact driver for the game's best players.
Here's Cobra's Jose Miraflor on what inspired the BiO CELL Pro:
This Pro Driver was designed for golfers with a strong swing that yields high launch and high spin. To help these golfers play at their best, we created the BiO CELL Pro Driver, our lowest CG ever to deliver unmatched distance and performance.
Now, you may well be asking yourself the same we asked when we heard the news, "haven't Cobra already made a better player BiO CELL driver?"
The answer is yes. In January Cobra first launched the 440cc Cobra BiO CELL+ driver in conjunction with 460cc BiO CELL driver. However, whilst the BiO CELL+ is a better player driver, you could say the BiO CELL Pro is a much-better player driver.
Whilst it is the same volume as the BiO CELL+, the new Pro model has a lower centre of gravity, lower lofted options, a shorter face height and a stronger fade bias. The design creates a very low spinning, mid-height flight suited for those better players that produce an abundance of speed and spin off the tee.
Cobra have once again offered players the adjustability of their MyFly8 hosel that allows you to choose from one of eight different loft/directional-bias settings. You can set your BiO CELL Pro to either 7°, 7.5°, 8.5°, 9.5° or 10° in a standard setting, which does have a slight fade bias, or 7.5°, 8.5°, 9.5° in a fade setting that further favours a left-to-right flight.
As is the case with anything Cobra do, there are plenty of colour options too. The BiO CELL Pro is available to right-handed golfers in a solid Black, Blue Aster or Vibrant Orange crown colour.
And the options don't stop there. As is the case with any better-player driver, the shaft is a crucial component. Whilst the BiO CELL Pro will fitted with the Matrix 6Q3 shaft as standard, players can upgrade to either the Diamana D+ 72 or Project X PX Tour 52 shaft, with no upcharge.
