The Mizuno MP-630 driver has a larger 460cc head than the Fast Track version and a slightly deeper face. This gives it a very solid sound and feel at impact and a slightly lower ball flight than its Fast Track stablemate.

The head is also a little deeper front to back but it still retains a classic look that better players will prefer and we think the styling is impressive and fits with what you expect from Mizuno.

The performance of the MP-630 driver was excellent and it was very easy to move the ball left and right, which is important for this level of driver.

The standard Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki shaft is a big improvement on the previous Mizuno driver shafts and provides excellent power although we are not sure about the predominantly white colour scheme.

Overall it is very hard to fault any aspect of this driver and the MP-630 is certainly the best MP driver Mizuno has produced to date.

I was very keen to try the Mizuno MP-630 driver because I’m a big fan of the MX-700, a club that has stayed in my bag from the moment I first tried out. The first thing to say about the MP-630 is that it is a club aimed far more at the better players than my trusty MX-700. That caused me a couple of problem because the model I was playing was fitted with a stiff shaft and I always struggle with them and the club didn’t offer the higher levels of forgiveness that allow me to build some confidence with the big stick. I also wasn’t convinved by the white shaft – somehow it just doesn’t seem to look right but that’s a personal preference that in now way affects performance.

Anwyay enough of the negative comments. This is still a Mizuno club and it offers the usual level of workmanship and the head looks excellent at address. The sound when you catch one just right is also excellent and the ball really travels. It was also a very workable club. This would never replace my MX-700, but its not supposed. This is another stunning Mizuno effort but I’m unfortunately not in the target market. Hopefully I will be one day.
