Who? 26 year-old South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
What? The 2020 Alfred Dunhill Championship, his second European Tour victory.
Where? Leopard Creek Country Club, Malelane, South Africa.
How? Bezuidenhout managed to keep his nerve despite making a double bogey five at the par-three seventh hole, firing a high-quality back nine of three under par whilst the rest of the leaders started to struggle. Young star Jayden Schaper led heading into the back nine before a seven at the tenth derailed him, whilst Sean Crocker was one off the lead heading to the final hole, only to make a triple-bogey and give Bezuidenhout a comfortable four-stroke victory in the end.
Following the victory, Bezuidenhout said:
It's incredible. This tournament has been so close to my heart since I played it for the first time.
It's always been a tournament I wanted to win and to pull it off today is really, really special to me. I'm proud of myself to stick in there and to have pulled it off round here.
