The TaylorMade R7 fairway wood is a classic looking fairway wood that uses moveable weights to change the flight of the shot.

In our tests, the head was smaller than the driver's with the movable weights so the effect was not as great, but it still works well.

The R7 fairway is offered by TaylorMade with two head constructions, steel and titanium.

The steel heads seemed a little heavier than other makes using a steel head, but the performance was very good from all models in the range.

The titanium heads seemed a little more responsive and not surprisingly lighter than the steel counterparts and the performance was very good from all models in the range.

The only downside is the price, which is around 40% more than the steel headed R7 Steel fairway.

Overall the R7 is a good quality wood with options to move the weighting around, but if you want a neutral balanced fairway wood, then there are probably better ones around.

Tried the new TaylorMade R7 Steel 3 Wood at a recent demo day. Sits wonderfully behind the ball and instills confidence with its traditional look. Under the head of the TaylorMade R7 Steel 3 Wood uses three moveable weights that alter the trajectory and flight. I didnt mess around with the weights but the face produces an awesome penetrating flight. Shaping the ball right to left was easier compared to left to right, but that may have been the face. The TaylorMade R7 Steel 3 Wood is the best new club Taylor Made have produced since using moveable weights, definitely worth a shot!
