If you're somebody who likes to match up your golf gear, then the Motocaddy M-Tech Cart Bag is the perfect accompaniment to any of Motocaddy's extensive fleet of trolleys, in particular the luxury M-Tech Trolley that we recently tested (and loved).

Motocaddy M-Tech Cart Bag Review

The whole benefit of a matching trolley/cart bag combination is that it makes your life easier out on the golf course. It means you have the space and size to prepare for every eventuality, it looks the business, and then there is the obvious benefit of not having to carry a bag on your shoulders for four hours.

Looks

The M-Tech Cart Bag has been styled to match the M-Tech trolley and so features the same black and grey colourway which is smart and should appeal to most golfers. The black is also useful because it means that the bag can be used for the majority of rounds during the year without having to worry about it getting overly muddy or dirty, especially in the winter months.

Motocaddy don't explicitly call this a waterproof bag but during my testing I encountered a couple of hours of pretty steady rain, and was impressed at how dry the contents of the bag managed to stay. There's also a good quality rainhood included which helps to stop your clubs getting wet and the fur-lined valuables pockets are extra resistant to the conditions too.

Functionality

The first thing I noticed with this bag is just how many different pockets and areas you get on it, meaning that it is extremely practical and also pretty versatile for plenty of golfers too. The great thing about bags like this are you can load them up with everything and not have to worry and weight or space: clubs (obviously), spare balls, waterproofs, towels, gloves, GPS devices, umbrellas, sausage rolls, cereal bars, and whatever else you'd like to have out on the course with you.

If you're looking for space, then the M-Tech is one of the most spacious bags I have ever tested. There are nine different pockets of varying shapes and sizes, with a very generous food and beverage holder and two separate valuables pockets.

14 full-length dividers means that you can separate your clubs nicely and helps to avoid that dreaded clinking as you make your way around the course, whilst the jumbo putter well means that even the thickest of Super Stroke grips will be easily housed, making it easy to get your putter in and out of your bag at every green.

Down at the bottom, there's an anti-twist base which adds a little more stability when the bag is placed on a trolley. The bag is Easilock compatible, so the bag can be paired with any Motocaddy trolley and it removes the need for a lower strap as the bag is held securely in place.

You get all the other features you'd expect from a cart bag like this, including the detachable carry strap for easy transportation, accessory hook, umbrella holder and a big, sturdy carry handle at the top so that you can get it out of your car boot or locker with minimal fuss.

Motocaddy M-Tech Cart Bag Verdict

As I said earlier the idea of a cart bag is that it is supposed to make your life easier, and that is exactly what Motocaddy's M-Tech does. Like the M-Tech trolley it looks premium and you'll certainly be the envy of your Saturday morning fourball if you turn up with your clubs in this.

I was also pleasantly surprised at the price of the bag too. A quick Google search showed that the bag is currently retailing for less than £200 so it was priced a little lower than I expected, particularly when considering that the M-Tech trolley itself is at the premium end of the market.

Of course plenty of golfers will have a different preference on what kind of cart bag they'd like to use, with plenty going for major equipment brands like Titleist or TaylorMade, but if you like things to match up then the Motocaddy could be for you, and it certainly won't let you down in terms of performance.

You can also benefit from technologies such as the Easilock connection if you already have a Motocaddy trolley, which works as a nice 'thank you' for your loyalty to the brand.

Would I Use It?

I definitely would. Put simply, if you're looking for a trolley bag which has all the space in the world, looks great, seems to have been built to last and features encompasses all the features you'll ever need, at a reasonable price, then you can't go wrong with the Motocaddy M-Tech.

Pros

  • Reasonable value for money

  • Looks very smart

  • Extremely spacious

  • Water-resistant

Cons

  • More colour options would be nice

  • Extra features mean that it is quite heavy for moving from car to trolley
