With a name like Motocaddy it makes sense that the brand are best known for producing some of the best electric trolleys on the market, as we saw with the M5 GPS last year.

But Motocaddy have also long been one of the best options when it comes to push trolleys too, with a winning combination of reliable quality coupled with ease of use.

Motocaddy Cube Trolley Review

The lightweight, compact-folding Cube trolley is one of the most popular options on the market, so we've put it to the test to see whether you should be trusting it to carry your gear around the golf course.

What's It All About?

The updated Cube trolley has been Motocaddy's best-selling push trolley over the last couple of years, and is now 40% smaller than traditional push trolleys which makes it ideal for squeezing into even the smallest car boots, yet still finds room for plenty of features.

It features a simple two-step folding system and sports Motocaddy's new-look graphite frame and wheels, which are oversized and friction-free to make maneuvering around the golf course even easier.

There's a number of different storage options, including an under-handle net, drink and scorecard holders, an accessory console, umbrella holder attachment, space for spare tees and balls, and a carry handle.

Like all of Motocaddy's trolleys, the Cube is compatible with their Easilock bag-to-trolley connection system which removes the need for a lower-bag strap.

The Test

I've been lucky enough to have used the Cube trolley for most of the winter whilst we have been able to play golf, and this extended period of testing has given me the chance to really analyse the pros and cons of the trolley as well as any other bits to look out for if you're considering a purchase.

Motocaddy Cube Trolley Review

As you'd expect with a name like Cube, the trolley folds down nice and small and comes complete with a handy carry handle on the base, although this probably could've been slightly bigger if you're carrying it any distance.

At just 6.8kg it's lightweight enough to move around with just one hand though, so you can easily stick it back inside your house or garage if you don't want to leave it in the car each time you finish playing.

Motocaddy Cube Trolley Review

Like most Motocaddy trolleys, the Cube is very easy to set up with by simply folding out the front wheel, before pushing up the main frame and wheels and then clicking the handle into place.

The adjustable handle height is a nice feature and is very straightforward, meaning that golfers of any height can use the trolley comfortably.

Out on the course, the Cube's lightweight frame meant that it felt extremely nimble when walking and turning, particularly around tight tee boxes and navigating around the green.

You get a handy parking brake which is ideal for when leaving the trolley on slopes without having to worry about it disappearing down a hill whilst you're putting or hitting your shot.

One of the rounds of testing was conducted at Prestbury GC which is particularly hilly in parts and so this was a big help.

Despite this there's still a sturdy feel overall, with the new graphite frame looking excellent and providing the kind of build quality that we have come to expect from Motocaddy over the years.

One downside that I did find however was the lightweight profile of the trolley did seem a little unstable at times, particularly when walking on side slopes when the trolley almost tipped up on a couple of occasions - you may just have to take a bit of extra care in these situations.

The main console below the handle is fantastic - with space for a scorecard, tees, golf balls, a drinks holder and a great netted area underneath which I've been using to carry snacks and my rangefinder during the round for quick access.

Just because it's a lightweight, compact push trolley doesn't mean that you should have to compromise on what you are able to carry out on the course, and this is clear evidence of that.

Motocaddy Cube Trolley Verdict

Put simply, if any of my friends was looking for a new push trolley, the Motocaddy Cube is exactly the model that I would be recommending to them.

Motocaddy Cube Trolley Review

It does everything you'd really want - it's lighweight, compact and manouvrable whilst also having lots of different storage options and I love the new styling that Motocaddy has chosen throughout their latest fleet of trolleys.

Back when I first started playing golf, I would think to myself that I wouldn't be using a golf trolley until I am much older, but now I have to admit that I am a convert.

Any time I am playing 18 holes in a competition or on a particularly slopey golf course, having a golf trolley with you can be just as important as a rangefinder or waterproofs on a wet day. The Cube will be my trolley of choice for the foreseeable future.

Looks good when folded up. However my experience is that the trolley is unstable when carrying a full golf bag. Going around a corner can cause it to topple over quite easily. it also needs care when going down or up a slope for the same reason. My trolley is approximately 4 months old and the handle is already showing signs of wear and tear, in that the handle is already moving up and down on its hinged point when in use. I would not recommend this trolley.
